Winter 2018 was to be taking place. But due to personal reasons, I’ve postponed it till 2019. Also, riders who couldn’t do it this year and who I really wanted to do this with, will be able to next year.
So it’ll be the 11th instead of the 10th anniversary of what I consider the hardest ride I have ever done. If you read my books you will know why. Anyway! After thinking, rethinking and asking myself why i have this thought at the young age of 57, I decided to do it again. Of course it will be Labrador. How it will go? I am not sure yet. That is why I am taking a year to plan it. Dates as noted are somewhat flexible.
The thought so far is to meet in Quebec (Baie-Comeau) then ride the Labrador Highway to Goose Bay Labrador, the extension Labrador highway to Cartwright and keep going to the tip of Quebec above NewFoundland. Then, take the ferry ferry from Blanc Sablons to Pointe Barbe, down the island of Newfoundland. At this point we have two choices. We can go to St-John's then hit Cape Spear then take the ferry from Argentia to North Sidney Nova Scotia (16 hours) or go straight down to Port Aux basques and the the ferry to North Sidney Nova Scotia, (5 to 7 hours) then head back to Quebec starting point via Cape Breton, PEI, New Brunswick. Personally I prefer to do the long one because you have only one chance to do Newfoundland in winter, so might as well do the whole thing.
We/I have a chance to do this again and i am blessed to be able to. Make no mistake. This is not for the faint of heart or the rider who puts his/her bike away in October because it is too cold to ride anymore. But this experience will stay with you for the rest of your life and the camaraderie you will have but with others will also remain with you.
We have a year to plan this. I will drive my truck and trailer in which I can take 5-6 bikes to Quebec where we will ride from. I am more than happy to pick up bikes as I go east when time comes. Riders as well. I can take 4 extra people and their gear. If you’d like to join this very unique and epic event and become part of a very small group of riders, contact me..
So here we go. The 2019 Cross Labrador Frozen Butt Motorcycle Tour is born!
