The sword making workshop runs for 4 mornings, 10am-2pm total of 16hrs
We'll have an introduction to the shop for the first hour.
This will cover personal safety and responsibility, tool safety, fire safety, work habits and team work. We'll rough out the sword but it won't look like much the first day. The most important part is getting comfortable with the shop, tools and process.
Day two we'll get it looking more like a sword blade. Adding to the skills developed the first week, we'll focus on fine tuning hammer skills. By this point the student will develop muscle control and have a good grasp on the basics.
Day three we'll do the hilt (hand guard) and pummel (handle end) fit them together with the blade. This is more technically challenging and will add to the basic skills already learned.
Day four we'll put it all together with a handle made to fit in a traditional way and do the finishing touches.
We may have to have a battle so send bandaids. ;)
These swords will be ornamental, not hardened steel so not the strength of a real sword but very cool non the less.
There's a shot of the basic sword. I'm keeping it simple so we have an achievable goal
The cost is $225.for 16 hrs of instruction and includes materials, fuel, and preparatory shop time.
Safety equipment is provided, boots or strong shoes are recommended.
Thanks , let me know if you have any questions.
